BMS was formed to help support the greater Savannah area animal community. BMS was started by Local Case Veterinarian Dr. Victoria Torres and has been lovingly named after the Mardi Gras Krewe she had been a part of for many years prior to moving to Savannah, the Krewe of Barkus & Meoux in Shreveport, Louisiana.. The Krewe does an amazing job each year supporting Shreveport’s animal rescues doing outreach programs for the community, and providing care for animals in need. Dr. Torres felt that Savannah was missing this type of support within the Savannah community and so made it her mission to give back in this way and hopes to spread some Mardi Gras cheer in the process.
BMS strives to engage pet owners in proper preventative care for pets, sterilization, vetting, and preparing for emergencies both environmental and medical. BMS is committed to helping families in financial crisis whose pet is in need of immediate medical care. Additionally, BMS will help support the local animal rescue organizations within the Savannah, Ga community. While BMs values the animal rescue efforts of other organizations in our community, BMs in itself is not a rescue organization.
